Trout Management Areas, wild trout areas, Trophy Trout Streams, Trout Parks and the streams DEEP stocked this year, with the stretches that run through public land highlighted, plus parking, the date each section was last stocked and its 2026 rules.
Check before you fish. Access, stocking and regulations here come from Connecticut's own data and can be out of date. Posted signs and landowners' wishes come first, and private land needs permission. The rules that apply are in the CT DEEP river and stream regulations, and you need a valid fishing license.

Highlighted stretches run through, or along, land open to the public: state parks, forests and wildlife management areas, DEEP water access areas, town parks and open space, land trust preserves and federal land.Dimmed stretches cross private land or land with no access information.
In Connecticut the streambed itself can be private. DEEP says public access is limited to rights-of-way marked by posters or to the landowner's permission, and on state-leased streams anglers must wade or stay near the bank as signs show. Many stocked streams are fished through those leases, which aren't in public map data, so the real share of fishable water is higher than the public miles shown here. Follow the signs.
Statewide trout rules (rivers and streams): catch and release only from March 1 to 6 a.m. on the 2nd Saturday in April; after that, 5 trout a day, 9-inch minimum. A Trout and Salmon Stamp is needed to fish many waters. Statewide species rules.
Section rules are copied from DEEP's CT DEEP River and Stream Regulations (2026) (checked 2026-10-12), which took effect January 1, 2026. Lines for areas DEEP has no map layer for yet, mostly the new Class 1 wild trout areas, follow the named stream and are marked approximate; the regulated section is as posted. Sea-run trout streams and tidal waters aren't mapped.
These special-regulation waters have no stream line we can place yet:
